JMT Medical is a medical device company focused on collaborative solutions to relieve obstructions caused by gallstones. Our mission is to create new methodology designed for greater efficiency, clinical outcomes, economics, and safety.

Founder & CEO, Jeff Rentz, MD, FACS, created JMT Medical to meet the needs of his patients, practice, and medical system.  With more than 20 years of surgical experience and through reimagined innovation, devices are being developed to address key clinical problems that surgeons and patients encounter worldwide.

Why I Built This

Surgery first for complications of gallstones is achievable with the right tools. Safely relieving the obstruction is our goal. Many cases are better addressed in the first few days after the onset of symptoms. Good surgeons are reluctant to take someone to the operating room unless they are confident that their problem can be solved. Current techniques require expensive equipment, multiple steps and take a long time compared to  my methodology. While visualization of the biliary tree may be necessary in select cases, stenting past the stones or extracting them with fluoroscopic guidance is much simpler, faster, affordable and less time consuming.

I have been using tools for decades that are effective but incompatible and not intuitive. I have developed a suite of tools and streamlined a method of care that will make management readily available for every surgeon in every hospital. It conveniently eliminates delays and expensive patient transfers. Stenting the bile duct safely facilitates a subsequent scheduled, elective ERCP. Forthcoming tools will improve stone removal by gastroenterologists and surgeons.

I have many years of experience with the technique and am proud to introduce tools to allow my colleagues around the world to safely and affordably care for their patients.
